Take your family out to the Ball Game and support FAFS! Come join the Morris County Foster Parents Association and Foster and Adoptive Family Services (FAFS) for Somerset Patriots baseball on Friday, July 2, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., at TD Bank Park in Bridgewater, and stick around after the game for a bonus fireworks display. Tickets are $3 per person for DYFS-licensed resource families and $8 per person for other guests. Click here for details.
REMINDER: Medication Logs are a Licensing Requirement! At the January meeting of the Morris FPA, we were reminded that it is a licensing requirement for foster parents to maintain a medication log for any children in foster care who have been prescribed psychotropic medications, and we were provided with a medication log form that foster parents must use to meet this requirement. Many medical professionals encourage parents to keep a log of all medications administered to children, so you may want to consider this as a standard practice in your home for all of your children. The completed forms for children in foster care should be provided to your child's caseworker on a regular basis and must be available to the Office of Licensing representative that inspects your home.
Thanks for Helping Us Save Money and Conserve Resources! As part of the MCFPA's efforts to reduce costs and make distribution of information more efficient for our families, a Yahoo! Group has been established to post and distribute information electronically. The response to our requests to have users sign up with this service have been very positive, but we believe that we can get even more people to "go paperless" and receive information more quickly and efficiently! Please visit our Yahoo! group website at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mcfpa and click on the Join this Group! button. If you've never registered with Yahoo! groups before, you'll need to do that. Once you've joined the group, you'll be notified of new postings and be able to post your own questions and concerns to share with other subscribers. The group postings and membership are carefully monitored and the e-mail addresses are never shared with anyone.
Don't Forget About Online Training from FAFS! Need more training hours for licensing? Give online training a try! Foster and Adoptive Family Services (FAFS) offers a number of online (e-learning) courses that count towards your in-service training requirements. Click here to get started today!
It pays to REFER - $200 Resource Parent Honorarium Did you know that you could earn $200 for successfully referring another family to become licensed as a resource family home? Well, it's true! Resource parents who recruit other families are entitled to a $200 honorarium when the home they refer becomes licensed. Be sure to tell the family you refer to call 877-NJ-FOSTER to let them know that they were referred by you. Once that family becomes licensed, FAFS will send you a check!
If your Girl Scout or Boy Scout troop is looking for a community service project, please consider helping our kids. There's a wide variety of activities that have made excellent projects for scout trips in the past, including our Backpack Program, Clothing/Coat Drives, Tricky Tray, Holiday Party, and Halloween Costume Drive. And now you can earn a patch for your work with us. Click here for an exclusive preview!
