The Morris County Foster Parent Association Summer Picnic has returned! Please join us for a day of fun, sun and swimming on Sunday, July 27, 2008, at Sunrise Lake in Lewis Morris Park from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.. The MCFPA will be paying for the picnic grounds and admission to the lake. Please plan on bringing your own food and beverages. Sunrise Lake is in Lewis Morris Park in Morristown, New Jersey, which is part of the Morris County Park System. For directions, please visit their website at www.morrisparks.net. You must RSVP no later than July 15 in order to attend; contact Joni at fostermom45@aol.com or call 973-983-0091. Please tell us exactly how many adults and how many children are attending and include the children's ages. Sunrise Lake has swimming, a concession stand, row boats and paddle boats (for a small fee). There are barbeques to grill on but you must bring all of your own supplies, including charcoal. The MCFPA is exploring ways to reduce costs and make distribution of information more efficient for our families. With the growing commonality of the Internet and e-mail, we would like to develop a better strategy for distributing information electronically, including the distribution of our monthly newsletter. Once you've joined the group, you'll be notified of new postings and be able to post your own questions and concerns to share with other subscribers. The group postings and membership are carefully monitored and the e-mail addresses are never shared with anyone.

Morris County DYFS Now Has TWO Local Offices
In response to increases in child abuse and neglect referrals, as well as the desire to use resources and serve families more efficiently, Morris County's Division of Youth and Family Services opened a second local office at 164 Speedwell Avenue in Morristown on June 12, 2007. Resource Parent Honorarium Increased!
Effective May 1, 2007, the honorarium provided to
resource parents who recruit other families will increase from $100 for
regular homes and $150 for boarder baby placements to a flat rate of
$200. Resource parents who recruit other families are entitled to
this honorarium when the home they refer becomes licensed. Resource
parents who qualify for the honorarium will receive the new rate for
homes licensed after May 1st.
