PRIDE SESSION 6 TRAINING MATERIALS
Session 6, "Meeting Developmental Needs: Discipline," exposes participants to the challenges of disciplining children in foster care who have experienced instances of loss, abuse and neglect. Participants explore their own experiences with discipline, both as children and as adults, and learn why some methods of discipline that they may have used may not be used with children from the child welfare system. Discussions also focus on how the needs of children in foster care motivate their behaviors and how discipline should not be just a reaction to a child's behaviors, but a method to address the cause of the behavior.
